Slow Cooker Fried Apple French Toast

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1 (4 oz) cube cream cheese; softened
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1-3/4 cups half & half
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) melted and cooled butter
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • pinch salt
  • 1 (15 oz) can Glory Foods Fried Apples
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • Whipped cream for serving

Directions

  1. Slice ends off bread (discard) and cut loaf into 3/4 inch slices.
  2. Spread bread slices with cream cheese; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, half & half, melted butter, pumpkin pie spice and a generous pinch of salt.
  4. Layer an oval (6 quart) slow cooker with bread slices; make sure to completely cover bottom. Spoon a layer of fried apples over the cream cheese then add another layer for bread.
  5. Repeat until all bread slices are used; the number of layers will depend upon the shape for your slow cooker.
  6. Pour the egg mixture over the top and sprinkle with brown sugar.
  7. Cook on low heat for 6 hours or 3 hours on the high heat setting.
  8. Serve with whipped cream, if desired.
