Creamy Oatmeal with Apples & Almonds

The ultimate decadence for starting the day off right is with this creamy and delicate Creamy Oatmeal with Apples and Almonds, which is made with Glory Foods Fried Apples.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1-1/4 cups evaporated milk
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 (15 oz.) can Glory Foods Fried Apples
  • 1/3 cup moist dried currants or raisins
  • 1 tsp. freshly grated lemon zest
  • 1/2 tsp. apple pie spice
  • 2 tbs. butter
  • 1/3 cup toasted sliced almonds

Directions

  1. Heat water and evaporated milk to a rolling simmer. Stir in oats and cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  2. Add Glory Foods Fried Apples and currants; cook for an additional 5 minutes until all liquid has been absorbed.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in lemon zest and apple pie spice and butter.
  4. Divide between 4 large or 6 small bowls and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
